Assistant To The Villain

Assistant to the Villain was way more fun than I expected. It has that kind of humor where you catch yourself smiling through half the book, mixed with enough tension and fantasy drama to keep things interesting.
Evie felt really relatable to me because underneath all the magical chaos, she’s basically just trying to hold her life together and survive a very questionable job situation. Watching her work for the Villain—and slowly get pulled deeper into his world—was honestly so entertaining.
And the Villain? Absolutely dramatic in the best way possible. He has that dark, dangerous reputation, but there are so many little moments that show a softer side underneath it all. The chemistry between them builds slowly, and the banter carried this entire book for me.
What I loved most was that the story never felt overly serious. It’s fantasy, but it’s also quirky, cozy, sarcastic, and weirdly charming. It felt like a mix of a rom-com and a fantasy adventure with just enough danger to raise the stakes.
If you like grumpy/sunshine relationships, magical workplace chaos, and fantasy books that are more fun than heavy, this one is such an enjoyable read.
