This book is one of those “just one more chapter” thrillers that’s really hard to put down. What’s supposed to be a relaxing getaway quickly turns into something deeply uncomfortable—and that slow shift from calm to creepy is where this story really shines.

Fay and Aidan rent a remote place to reset after a rough year, which already feels a little fragile emotionally. Then they meet their hosts, and almost immediately things feel… off. Nothing is obviously wrong at first, but the tension builds in that quiet, nagging way where you keep thinking, I wouldn’t be okay with this.

The pacing is fast, the chapters are short, and the twists come in hot once things start unraveling. Some moments made me genuinely anxious in that fun, thriller-reader way. You don’t always know who to trust, and the story keeps nudging you in the wrong direction just when you think you’ve figured it out.

Is it subtle? Not really—and that’s part of the appeal. It leans into the drama, the bad decisions, and the escalating danger, which makes it a great binge read. Perfect if you like vacation-gone-wrong stories with creepy hosts and lots of tension.
