Welcome to Murder Week is one of those books that sneaks up on you—in the best way. It starts with a fun, cozy premise: a woman travels to a small English village for a week-long, staged murder mystery after her mother unexpectedly passes away and leaves the trip behind. What Cath doesn’t expect is that the trip ends up revealing way more about her mom—and herself—than she ever imagined.
The murder mystery itself is charming and very “British village vibes,” complete with quirky locals, clues, and plenty of red herrings. But honestly, the mystery isn’t really the main point. This book is more about grief, connection, and stepping out of your comfort zone when life gives you a nudge (or a shove). Cath is quiet, guarded, and a little stuck at the start, which makes her slow transformation feel real and earned.
The friendships that form during the trip are a highlight—awkward at first, then genuinely warm and funny. There’s also a soft thread of romance that feels natural rather than forced. Nothing over-the-top, just enough to add some sweetness.
