How The Stroy Goes

How the Story Goes turned out to be such a heartfelt, comforting read for me. The idea alone pulled me in — a man trying to finish his late wife’s fantasy series while dealing with grief and raising their daughter — and it ended up being way more emotional than I expected.
What I liked most was how real the characters felt. Whit is messy, overwhelmed, and trying his best, and his relationship with Merritt develops in such a natural way. Nothing felt overly dramatic or forced, which made the emotional moments hit even harder. I also loved all the bookish and writing-related parts woven throughout the story. It really felt like a book about stories, creativity, and the people who leave pieces of themselves behind in their creations.
It’s definitely more of a quiet, emotional story than a fast-paced one, but that actually worked for me. It has a cozy, bittersweet feeling the whole way through, and by the end, I just felt really attached to the characters. If you like emotional contemporary fiction with a little romance and a lot of heart, this one is worth picking up.
