The story follows Sam, a modern-day sportswriter who suddenly finds himself back in 1869, traveling with the first professional baseball team. Even if you’re not super into baseball, the whole setup is actually really interesting because you get to see what life was like back then and how different the game used to be.

What I liked most was how easy it was to get pulled into the story. The historical details felt natural instead of overwhelming, and the characters made the whole thing feel alive. Sam is also easy to root for. He starts out kind of stuck in life, and watching him adjust to the past and slowly change because of it was one of the best parts of the book.

The pacing does slow down here and there, especially during some of the baseball-heavy moments, but overall, it has this really nostalgic, adventurous feel that kept me reading.
