Murder By Firecrackers

Murder by Fireworks by Susan Bernhardt is exactly the kind of cozy mystery that's easy to settle into. It has small-town charm, a likable cast of characters, and just enough twists to keep you guessing without getting overly complicated. The Fourth of July setting adds a fun backdrop, but the celebration quickly takes a darker turn when a man is found dead after the fireworks.

I really enjoyed spending time with Kay Driscoll again. She's smart, relatable, and the kind of amateur sleuth you can't help but root for. I also liked how much of the story focused on family and friendships alongside the mystery. The suspects all had believable motives, so I found myself changing my mind several times about who the killer might be.

The pacing is steady, and while it's definitely more of a cozy mystery than an edge-of-your-seat thriller, it kept me interested from beginning to end. If you're looking for graphic crime scenes or nonstop action, this probably isn't the book for you. But if you enjoy charming small-town mysteries with memorable characters and a satisfying whodunit, this one is well worth picking up.
