The Bone Collector

The Bone Collector completely lived up to the hype for me. Even though it's an older thriller, it never felt dated. Once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down because I always wanted to know what clue would be uncovered next.

What I loved most was the partnership between Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs. They balance each other so well, and I found myself just as invested in them as I was in the mystery itself. I also liked that the investigation actually felt like real detective work instead of relying on nonstop action or over-the-top twists.

The killer leaves behind clues at every crime scene, so I spent most of the book trying to figure everything out right along with the characters. A couple of the twists caught me completely off guard, which is always a win for me. I love a thriller that can still surprise me.

There are quite a few forensic details throughout the story, but I actually enjoyed that. It made everything feel more believable and added another layer to the investigation without getting too bogged down.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It's a smart, suspenseful thriller with great characters and a mystery that kept me guessing until the very end. If you enjoy crime novels that make you think as much as they keep you on the edge of your seat, The Bone Collector is definitely one I'd recommend.
