From the very beginning, the story throws you into a terrifying hostage situation at an elementary school during a snowstorm, and the anxiety honestly never lets up. I kept thinking, “just one more chapter,” because I needed to know how everything was going to play out.

What I liked most was how personal the story felt. It wasn’t just about the crisis itself — it also dug into the lives of the teachers, parents, students, and police officers involved. Everyone had their own struggles and secrets, which made the emotional moments hit even harder. Mrs. Oliver stood out to me as especially caring and strong.

The multiple points of view worked really well here because they kept the tension high and showed how differently everyone experienced the same nightmare. Some parts were a little dramatic, but overall I was completely hooked.

This definitely isn’t a light read, but if you like suspenseful stories that mix emotional family drama with high-stakes tension, this one is worth checking out. It’s the kind of book that keeps your heart racing the whole way through.
