The Haunting of Brynn Wilder

I went in expecting a straightforward ghost story, but The Haunting of Brynn Wilder is much quieter and more emotional than that. It leans more into atmosphere and grief than outright scares, and honestly, that’s what made it stick with me.

Brynn heads to this lakeside town to heal after a loss, and from the start there’s this heavy, almost dreamlike feeling hanging over everything. The setting is one of my favorite parts—foggy lake, old house, strange neighbors—it all feels just a little off in a really subtle way. Not terrifying, but unsettling enough that you keep turning pages.

The story moves at a slower pace, which worked for me, but I could see it not being for everyone. If you’re expecting constant twists or big horror moments, this isn’t that kind of book. It’s more about the emotional unraveling and the mystery of what’s real and what isn’t.

What I liked most is how it blends the supernatural with grief and memory. It never fully spells everything out, which gives it that lingering, slightly eerie feeling even after you finish.
