Hallie and Jack are both coming off disastrous dating experiences, so they make a pact to stop looking for love and just be friends. Of course, things don't exactly go according to plan. Their banter is witty, their friendship feels genuine, and watching them slowly realize there's something more between them was easily the best part of the book.

What I loved most was how natural their relationship felt. There wasn't a ton of unnecessary drama or miscommunication, just two people who genuinely enjoyed being around each other. The flirting, the teasing, and all the awkward moments had me smiling more than once.

The story does follow a fairly familiar romantic comedy formula, so there weren't many surprises along the way. If you read a lot of rom-coms, you'll probably see where it's headed pretty early on. But honestly, that's part of the charm. Sometimes you just want a feel-good romance that leaves you happy, and this one absolutely does.

If you're looking for a sweet friends-to-lovers romance with lovable characters, plenty of laughs, and a satisfying happily-ever-after, The Love Wager is an easy book to recommend. It's the kind of story that's perfect for a weekend read when you want something that simply makes you smile.
