The Sweet Smell of Murder was such an easy, cozy read. It has everything I want in a cozy mystery — a small-town setting, quirky characters, good food, and just enough mystery to keep things interesting without getting too dark or intense.
I really liked the overall vibe of this book. It felt warm and fun, even with the murder mystery happening in the background. The bakery scenes and food descriptions honestly made me crave pastries the whole time, and I liked spending time with the characters. The main character was easy to like, and following her as she tried to figure everything out kept the story moving at a nice pace.
The mystery itself wasn’t super complicated, but that actually worked for this kind of story. It’s more of a relaxing, curl-up-with-a-blanket type of read than a super suspenseful thriller, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with charm, humor, and a cute small-town feel, this one is definitely worth picking up.
