Well, this family has some serious issues, and that's putting it mildly!

Cat Ferry is investigating a series of brutal murders while dealing with a whole mess of problems of her own. Drinking, blackouts, childhood trauma, and a past that just won't leave her alone. The more she digs, the uglier things get.

I really liked how this one slowly revealed all those nasty little family secrets. You know something terrible is hiding beneath the surface, but you're not quite sure just how bad it's going to get. And trust me, it gets pretty bad.

Cat drove me a little crazy at times. Some of her decisions had me wondering what in the world she was thinking. But I also felt sorry for her because this woman has been through some seriously messed-up stuff.

A few parts dragged a little for me, but I was too curious about what happened in Cat's past to put it down. And once things started coming together, I understood why some memories are better left buried.

This is definitely a darker read with some pretty disturbing subject matter, especially involving childhood abuse. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy family reunion!
