These Memories Don't Belong To Us

Imagine living in a world where you can buy, sell, erase, or even change your memories. Pretty creepy, right? That's exactly the disturbing world Yiming Ma has created in this book.
Set in a dystopian future where the government controls people's memories, the story follows a young man who inherits his mother's collection of forbidden memories. And you know I love a good secret, especially when someone is trying desperately to keep it buried!
I really liked the concept behind this one. The thought of someone being able to control your past and change what you believe to be true is downright terrifying. The story is told through different memories, and while some grabbed my attention more than others, I enjoyed seeing how everything connected.
Overall, this was a unique mix of science fiction, secrets, and psychological unease. It wasn't quite the page-turner I had hoped for, but the concept alone made it worth reading.
Because seriously, what's scarier than discovering that the memories you've trusted your entire life might not even be real?
