A secret library, stolen books, alternate worlds, dangerous creatures, and a little murder and mayhem? Well, you had me at library!

The Invisible Library is a wonderfully strange mix of fantasy, mystery, magic, and adventure. Irene is a librarian, but definitely not the quiet, shushing kind! She travels between alternate worlds collecting rare books for a mysterious Library that exists outside of time and space. And, of course, what should be a simple assignment turns into one big, chaotic mess.

Dragons, fae, secrets, and enough twists to keep things interesting. I loved the whole idea of a library connecting different worlds, and the Victorian-inspired setting added a deliciously dark, steampunk atmosphere.

I will say that the world-building gets a little overwhelming at times, and there were moments when I wanted the story to slow down and let me soak up all that wonderful weirdness. But Irene is clever, resourceful, and just sarcastic enough to make her a fun character to follow.

This one has a little bit of everything, and while it wasn't quite as dark and creepy as I usually prefer, I couldn't resist a story where books are valuable enough to steal, fight over, and possibly die for.
