Final Victim is one of those thrillers that’s easy to sink into and hard to put down. It’s tense right from the start and keeps that pressure on all the way through.

The story follows Detective Megan Carpenter as she’s pulled into a case that feels way too personal for comfort. A brutal murder, a killer who seems to know her past, and a sense that she might be closer to danger than she realizes—it all adds up fast. Even though this is part of a series, you don’t need to have read the earlier books to enjoy it. Everything you need is there, and it never feels confusing or overwhelming.

What really works here is the pacing. Chapters are short, the stakes keep climbing, and Olsen knows exactly when to drop a detail that makes you want to read just one more page. Megan feels grounded and human, not a flawless detective, which makes the tension hit harder as things start to close in on her.

This isn’t a flashy or overly complicated thriller—it’s solid, dark, and genuinely suspenseful. If you like crime novels with a strong lead, creepy villains, and a steady build of unease, Final Victim is a great pick, especially if you’re in the mood for something you can breeze through while still feeling that edge-of-your-seat pull.
