If you grew up loving Hocus Pocus, this book is basically a big dose of Halloween nostalgia with a little extra witchy chaos thrown in.

The first half retells the original movie, so there aren’t really any surprises, but I still had fun revisiting Salem, the Sanderson sisters, Binx, the Black Flame Candle, and all the ridiculousness that made me love the movie in the first place. It definitely made me want to curl up under a blanket and watch the movie again immediately.

The second half gets more interesting because we get an entirely new story set years later. Max and Allison now have a daughter, Poppy, and—because apparently nobody in Salem has learned anything—witchy trouble comes knocking again. Of course, the Sanderson sisters are involved, and things quickly turn into another night of spells, magic, danger, and Halloween mayhem.

Was the sequel as good as the original story? Not quite. Some parts felt a little cheesy and predictable, but honestly…this is Hocus Pocus. I’m here for dramatic witches, questionable decisions, creepy graveyards, black cats, spells, and Halloween chaos. 😂

This was just plain fun. It didn’t scare me, but it definitely scratched that spooky-season itch. If you love the movie and want something light, nostalgic, witchy, and perfect for October, this is a great one to add to your Halloween reading pile.
