How To Sell Haunted House

Okay…this book was absolutely BONKERS. 😂
I went into How to Sell a Haunted House expecting your typical creepy old house, some ghosts, maybe a few things going bump in the night.
Nope.
Grady Hendrix said, “How about possessed puppets?” 😳
And somehow he made them terrifying.
After their parents die, Louise and her brother Mark are forced to deal with their childhood home—and all the baggage, resentment, secrets, and very questionable things their mother left behind. What starts as a dysfunctional family story slowly turns into something much darker, weirder, and creepier.
And then there's Pupkin.
Freaking Pupkin. 😂
I don't think I'll ever look at a puppet the same way again.
What surprised me most was how much heart was hiding underneath all the insanity. Yes, it's horror. Yes, it's disturbing. Yes, there were moments when I wondered what the heck I was reading. But underneath it all is a story about grief, family, childhood trauma, and the things we carry with us long after we think we've left them behind.
It's creepy without taking itself too seriously, funny at exactly the right moments, and completely ridiculous in the BEST possible way.
There were parts that made me laugh, parts that made me uncomfortable, and parts where I thought, “Nope. Burn the house down. We're done here.” 🔥🏚️😂
If you like your horror weird, dark, funny, and just a little unhinged, this one is definitely worth reading.
And if you already hate puppets?
Good luck. 😈🪆📚
