I, Medusa by Ayana Gray completely surprised me in the best way. I went into it expecting a typical mythology retelling, but it ended up feeling a lot more emotional and personal than I expected. This version of Medusa feels so human — hurt, angry, lonely, hopeful — and it really makes you see her story differently.

The writing has this dark, haunting vibe that fits the story perfectly without feeling overly heavy all the time. Even knowing how Medusa’s story ends, I still found myself completely invested in her journey and honestly rooting for her the whole way through. The book does a really good job exploring betrayal, power, and how easily people can turn someone into a monster when they don’t want to face the truth.

It’s definitely one of those books that sticks with you after you finish it. If you like mythology retellings with darker themes and strong emotional depth, this one is absolutely worth reading.
