Life Out Of Order

I love books that play with time, memory, and all those little what-ifs in life. There's something both fascinating and unsettling about the idea that things aren't happening quite the way they're supposed to. And when a story makes you question what you know about life, love, and the choices we make, I'm usually interested.

This story follows Alba, the daughter from The Time Traveler's Wife, who has inherited her father's ability to travel through time. Except there's nothing particularly wonderful about disappearing into different years without warning. Throw in two complicated relationships, a world falling apart, and a few secrets that refuse to stay buried, and things get messy pretty quickly.

The whole idea of knowing what might happen but being unable to change it is honestly a little terrifying. Imagine seeing pieces of your future and still having absolutely no control over how you get there. No thank you!

I do think the jumping timelines and number of characters could make this a challenging read. A lot is happening, and I would have liked a little more time to settle into some of the relationships before being pulled somewhere else.

What makes this story interesting, though, isn't just the time travel. It's the grief, the complicated love, and the question of whether knowing the future is actually a gift or just another way to suffer.
