Mantis

Okay, this book was completely freaking bonkers…and I mean that in the best possible way. 😂

We have demons, the apocalypse, a kidnapped kid, a seriously questionable group of people trying to save the world, lots of blood and gore, and Mantis—who might be one of the most chaotic main characters I've come across in a while.

Mantis is definitely not your typical heroine. She's crude, sarcastic, messy, completely inappropriate and somehow still incredibly likable. Half the time I was wondering what the hell she was going to do next, and honestly, that's what made this so much fun.

The whole thing basically feels like one long, bizarre road trip through the South while the Book of Revelation is unfolding around them. Totally normal. 😂 There are demons and some pretty gruesome moments, but there's also enough humor mixed in that it never feels like your typical dark apocalypse story.

I also really liked the group of misfits Mantis picks up along the way. They're all a little damaged, a little ridiculous, and somehow they just work together.

Was it weird? Absolutely.

Was it inappropriate? Oh yes.

Did I have a good time reading it? Definitely.

If you like your horror bloody, funny, completely over the top and filled with characters who probably shouldn't be responsible for saving themselves—much less the entire world—give this one a try. 😂

Definitely one of those books where you just buckle up and enjoy the insanity.
