Old Bones

Old Bones had me at archaeology, buried secrets, and the Donner Party. Seriously, what more do I need? 😂

The story follows archaeologist Nora Kelly as she gets involved in an excavation connected to the Donner Party, and what startsas an interesting historical dig quickly turns into something much more complicated. There are old mysteries, missing people, murder, and plenty of secrets that apparently weren't meant to stay buried.

This one was right up my alley. I loved the mix of real history and fiction, especially because the Donner Party story is already creepy enough without adding murder and mystery. The archaeological side was interesting without feeling like I was reading a textbook, and I really liked Nora as a main character.

I also enjoyed Corrie Swanson and the investigation happening alongside Nora's story. At first you're wondering how everything possibly connects, but slowly the pieces start falling into place.

There were a few slower sections, but once things started happening, I was completely invested. And naturally, every time someone went somewhere they clearly SHOULD NOT have gone, I was sitting there thinking, Well, this seems like a terrible idea...keep going. 😂

Dark history, old bones, murder, buried treasure, and a mystery that's been waiting more than a century to be uncovered. Yep, this one worked for me.

Definitely a fun, creepy historical mystery and a great start to the Nora Kelly series.
