The Madness by Dawn Kurtagich is a retelling of Dracula, and a very good retelling at that. Mina gets a random email from her estranged best friend Lucy.  Mina, who is a practicing psychiatrist in London, returns to her childhood home in Whales, a town she thought she’d left forever.  Mina discovers that Lucy is suffering from the same issues a patient she has, has. Lucy’s life is on the line, and her patient now dead, Mina finds herself going deeper into a world of missing girls, powerful men, and old-world superstitions. Mina must look to her past and confront her own questionable beliefs to find an incomprehensible evil that is at the root of a secret world of missing women.  Mina joins forces with three smart women, her mother, a childhood friend turned cop, and a woman searching for her missing daughter.  A desperate plan is hatched, but Mina will not realize the powers that need to be reckoned with to solve and stop this mystery. Lots of twists and turns, could not put it down!
